About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Define and structure legacy components, microservices and APIs, ensuring cohesion, low coupling and sustainable evolution of systems.
- Establish development standards, design patterns (SOLID, Clean Architecture, DDD) and practices to continuously reduce technical debt.
- Translate business requirements into scalable, secure and cost-effective technical solutions.
- Conduct technical and architectural reviews, identifying risks and opportunities for improvement.
- Implement and evolve internal developer portals (IDP) such as Backstage (Spotify/CNCF), centralizing the service catalog, technical documentation (TechDocs) and scaffolding templates.
- Define and maintain the IDP Software Catalog, ensuring visibility and governance over all services, APIs and platform components.
- Create and maintain Software Templates (golden paths) to standardize the creation of new services, environments and pipelines with best practices embedded.
- Develop and integrate custom plugins for Backstage to connect internal tools (CI/CD, observability, cloud, ticketing, security).
- Promote a self-service culture, reducing squads' cognitive load and accelerating onboarding of new developers.
- Evaluate and recommend complementary or alternative IDP solutions (Port, Cortex, Roadie, OpsLevel) according to platform maturity.
- Design, implement and maintain continuous integration and delivery pipelines (CI/CD) with a focus on quality, traceability and speed.
- Integrate automated tests (unit, integration and security) into CI/CD pipelines.
- Design and govern advanced deployment strategies: Blue/Green, Canary and Feature Flags.
- Integrate security tools (SAST/DAST) continuously into the development lifecycle, ensuring security without operational friction.
- Ensure adherence to security best practices: authentication, authorization and OWASP Top 10.
- Implement and automate observability strategies: logs, metrics and distributed tracing (New Relic, ELK stack, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Support the definition of IaC strategies and infrastructure automation.
- Mentor and guide developers on architectural and software engineering best practices.
- Act as the technical reference within the squad, collaborating with product, business and infrastructure teams.
- Actively participate in agile ceremonies, contributing technical and architectural perspectives.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Strong experience in at least two modern stacks: Java/Spring, Node.js, Python or React.
- Knowledge of RESTful APIs and GraphQL; experience integrating heterogeneous systems.
- Familiarity with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis).
- Expertise in distributed architectures, microservices and event-driven design.
- Practical application of patterns: SOLID, Clean Architecture, DDD, CQRS and Event Sourcing.
- Experience implementing or operating an IDP with Backstage (Spotify/CNCF): Software Catalog, TechDocs, Scaffolder and plugin system.
- Knowledge of platform engineering: golden paths, self-service, workflow standardization and developer experience (DevEx) management.
- Familiarity integrating Backstage with tools such as GitHub/GitLab, Kubernetes, Argo CD, Jira, SonarQube and cloud providers.
- Practical experience with Jenkins, GitLab CI and/or Spinnaker.
- Use of static code analysis tools: SonarQube or similar.
- Knowledge of automated testing (unit, integration, contract and load testing).
- Advanced knowledge of Docker, including build optimization (multi-stage builds).
- Experience with Kubernetes and GitOps (ArgoCD, FluxCD).
- Hands-on experience with at least one cloud provider: AWS, Azure, GCP or OCI.
- Proficiency with IaC tools: Terraform, Pulumi or Ansible.
- Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ or ActiveMQ and event-driven architectures.
- Integration of SAST/DAST tools into CI/CD pipelines.
- Implementation of logging, metrics and distributed tracing with New Relic, ELK stack, Prometheus and/or Grafana.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems or related fields.
- Minimum of 4 years of software development experience, with at least 2 years working in systems architecture.
- Technical English for reading documentation (preferred).
