About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Review and evaluate proposed changes to existing electric facilities
Create new Protection and Control system designs in accordance with client standards
Specify materials associated with new or modified Protection and Control systems
Develop, calculate, and document settings and logic for protective relays, logic processors, feeder reclosers, and switches
Perform coordination studies by modeling and analyzing electric system elements and their protection systems
Analyze protection system operations during transmission and distribution system disturbances
Lead cross-functional teams to drive technical decisions for substation capital projects
Develop work requests and RFPs, and evaluate proposals for outsourced work
Manage multiple contractors delivering engineering and design services
Oversee the technical implementation of complex capital projects
Interface with Planning, Operations and Field personnel

Requirements

What you’ll need

BS/ MS in Electrical Engineering with an active Professional Engineer License (P.E.) in the USA
8+ Years of Protection and Controls experience supporting major electric utilities substation design projects
Familiar with QA/QC Processes, AutoCAD, SEL Software
Familiar with SEL and IEEE Relay System Protection Guides, Standards and Practices
Experience performing overcurrent and distance coordination studies with ASPEN One-liner modeling software, or equivalent
Experience with relay and digital fault recorder event records, and design and installation of protection and control schemes utilizing IEC61850 protocol
Experience preparing and/or modifying schematics, wiring and logic drawings.
