About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Review and evaluate proposed changes to existing electric facilities
- Create new Protection and Control system designs in accordance with client standards
- Specify materials associated with new or modified Protection and Control systems
- Develop, calculate, and document settings and logic for protective relays, logic processors, feeder reclosers, and switches
- Perform coordination studies by modeling and analyzing electric system elements and their protection systems
- Analyze protection system operations during transmission and distribution system disturbances
- Lead cross-functional teams to drive technical decisions for substation capital projects
- Develop work requests and RFPs, and evaluate proposals for outsourced work
- Manage multiple contractors delivering engineering and design services
- Oversee the technical implementation of complex capital projects
- Interface with Planning, Operations and Field personnel
Requirements
What you’ll need- BS/ MS in Electrical Engineering with an active Professional Engineer License (P.E.) in the USA
- 8+ Years of Protection and Controls experience supporting major electric utilities substation design projects
- Familiar with QA/QC Processes, AutoCAD, SEL Software
- Familiar with SEL and IEEE Relay System Protection Guides, Standards and Practices
- Experience performing overcurrent and distance coordination studies with ASPEN One-liner modeling software, or equivalent
- Experience with relay and digital fault recorder event records, and design and installation of protection and control schemes utilizing IEC61850 protocol
- Experience preparing and/or modifying schematics, wiring and logic drawings.
