About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Plans, conducts and documents complex tests on products, systems, components, materials, and manufacturing processes and technologies
- Designs, fabricates, builds and analyzes test systems, materials, components, software and methodologies
- Coordinates test requirements, determines test methods and capabilities
- Conducts system test preparations by guiding system integration, fabrication, modification, setup, checkout and teardown
- Performs test article configuration control
- Conducts complex tests, analyzes data and documents results; participates in test readiness reviews
- Identifies and resolves test anomalies
- Troubleshoots and resolves complex laboratory and test-related problems
- Coordinates test laboratory activities, maintenance and repairs, and personnel training
- Assists government agencies, safety and hazardous materials teams in the event of emergencies
- Assists engineers and senior technicians with efforts such as optical alignment
- Serve as a crew member for tests, being trained in optics and lasers, telescope operator, camera operator, or atmospheric operator
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of experience in engineering technician, construction or facilities maintenance disciplines
- 5+ years of experience working with powered hand tools or equipment
- Willing and able to work variable shifts; including days, evenings, nights and weekends
- 9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (preferred)
- Active Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance (preferred)
- Experience assembling lab prototypes, chassis wiring, and mechanical mounting based on schematics, drawings, and system requirements (preferred)
- Experience operating complex computer-based analysis or control systems (preferred)
- Experience with high power lasers (preferred)
- Experience with optical alignment techniques (preferred)
- Experience with electronics/electrical systems (preferred)
- Experience with mechanical systems (preferred)
