About the role
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams during aircraft design, integration, and test, providing technical support on avionics interfaces, system fault monitoring, and software control logic.
- Review airplane-level requirements and develop detailed hardware/software specifications, interface control documents, and test plans.
- Understand airplane signal processing fundamentals, redundancy management, fault monitoring and electronic interface protocols like MIL-STD-1553 and ARINC-429.
- Interpret and author software-based control algorithms using flow diagrams, state machines, and feedback loops.
- Perform reviews of software lifecycle data, including source code, high/low level software requirements, and DO-178 certification artifacts.
- Develop and run MATLAB/Simulink models to simulate system architecture, analyze performance, and support design validation.
- Conduct full-scale laboratory and on-aircraft flight test campaigns to validate system performance under real operational conditions, managing data acquisition, analysis, and reporting.
- Coordinate with Boeing hardware managers to monitor supplier performance and component quality, supporting activities like development tests, qualification and technical reviews.
- Maintain a basic understanding of servo actuation principles, including mechanical design, fluid dynamics, and analog sensors such as Linear Variable Displacement Transformers (LVDT), resolvers and switches.
- Perform root-cause analysis to identify and resolve system integration anomalies, working with customer and Boeing safety teams to implement corrective actions.
- Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for fielded hardware and software throughout the product lifecycle, including managing modifications, upgrades, and operational issues.
- Document test results, anomaly reports, and lessons learned clearly and thoroughly to support continuous improvement of system design, integration, and testing processes.
