About the role
- Manage software engineering team through the software development life cycle.
- Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with peers, business partners, customers, and other stakeholders.
- Oversee software architecture, design, and implementation practices to ensure compliance with Software Engineering Design Practices, safety-critical requirements, and Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V) inputs.
- Participate in program operating rhythm to include Program Increment (PI) Planning, program risk/issue/opportunity (RIO) process, and EVMS activities.
- Takes a collaborative approach to develop and execute project and process plans, implement policies and procedures, and develop and maintain roadmaps.
- Acquires resources for projects and processes and provides oversight and approval of technical approaches in alignment with organizational strategy.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the mission and motivation to combine the team’s energy and expertise to achieve a common objective.
- Lead technical planning and execution for software scope, schedule, and cost, including Earned Value Management (EVM) duties and reporting.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience managing or leading teams in a software engineering discipline
- 3+ years of experience with project management principles
- Experience in Agile Software Development
- Demonstrated ability to provide a high level of customer satisfaction
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science or equivalent experience
- Strong communication skills – written/verbal
- Experience in developing large-scale software systems
- Experience developing software for real-time embedded systems
- More than 3 years of experience managing projects using Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
- Experience in C++ or Ada
- Experience working directly with DOD customers or participating in Program Increment (PI) planning and milestone reviews
- Experience with software requirement development
- Experience working with system/subsystem engineers
- Experience working with external software suppliers
