About the role
- Support supplier recovery projects by developing and validating manufacturing processes, routings, and process controls that meet program requirements.
- Perform on-site supplier process assessments to identify non-conformances, capacity limits, tooling deficiencies, and process risks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional recovery teams to implement containment, root-cause countermeasures, and permanent corrective actions.
- Develop and execute manufacturing process validations, first article/production approvals, and test/inspection plans.
- Design and specify shop aides, tooling and fixtures; coordinate vendor sourcing or in-house fabrication as required.
- Support supplier implementation of lean manufacturing practices (SMED, 5S, standardized work, manufacturing documentation) to restore throughput and reduce variability.
- Troubleshoot process failures with hands-on technical leadership, implementing corrective actions and verifying effectiveness.
- Analyze manufacturing operating plans, document constraints, determine capacity and negotiate alternatives as required.
- Evaluate product assembly instructions and standardize assembly practices.
- Travel regularly to supplier sites for hands-on support, validation, and return to stable production (up to 50% travel).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in supplier-facing roles or production environments.
- 3+ years’ experience with manufacturing processes, tooling, fixture design, or process validation.
- Aerospace supplier experience preferred.
- Master’s degree in Engineering or related field (preferred).
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification (preferred).
- Strong problem-solving skills and experience with root cause methods.
- Effective communication skills for supplier engagement and cross-functional coordination.
- Experience with aerospace manufacturing standards (AS9100), FAI/AS, and repair/overhaul processes (MRO).
- Prior experience supporting supplier recovery, supply chain remediation, or sustainment operations (preferred).
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly to supplier sites (Up to 50% of the time).
- Must be able to work on-site at one of the listed locations; position expected to be 100% onsite.
- Export Control Requirement: Must be a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15.
