About the role
- Review, develop, document, and maintain system requirements and traceability across the lifecycle
- Define test strategies, plans, procedures, and acceptance criteria for component, integration, and system-level testing
- Design and execute verification & validation activities (functional, interface, performance, reliability, regression)
- Analyze test results, perform root cause analyses, and recommend corrective actions
- Collaborate across engineering disciplines, working closely with software developers, system architects, and test engineers to validate end-to-end functionality and mission effectiveness
- Lead integration of hardware, software, and mission systems in secure DoD environments, ensuring interoperability, performance, and mission assurance
- Apply modern DevSecOps practices—including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, containerized deployments, and infrastructure as code—to streamline integration and test activities
- Stand up, configure, and maintain secure test environments leveraging cloud-native and virtualized resources (e.g., AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, or on-premise equivalents)
- Use model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and requirements management tools to support design, analysis, and traceability
- Contribute to risk, issue, and opportunity management; assess and report technical readiness and critical path impacts
- Drive continuous improvement of integration and test processes, incorporating automation, metrics, and lessons learned to increase efficiency and reliability
- Document integration results and test findings for design reviews, readiness assessments, and formal customer deliverables
- Mentor junior engineers; at higher levels, provide technical leadership across projects and broader mentoring responsibilities
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
- 14+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
- Strong systems thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Practical experience with requirements decomposition, requirements tracing and configuration management
- Experience writing test plans and procedures and executing system-level integration and verification
- Familiar with standard engineering tools such as requirements management (DOORS or similar), MBSE (MSOSA/Cameo or similar), test management, and common collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence, Git)
- Proficient with one or more scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, Bash, Matlab) for test automation and data analysis
