About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead a high-visibility initiative focused on evolving the platforms our members rely on to access critical healthcare services.
- Guide a team of engineers while partnering closely with Product, Architecture, Security, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable, high-quality solutions that enhance the member experience.
- Help stabilize and modernize Node/React-based platforms, improve delivery predictability and system reliability, and drive meaningful outcomes across cross-functional teams.
- Blend leadership and hands-on engagement—mentoring engineers, overseeing solution design and code quality, and advancing the use of AI-assisted development practices.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of a team with a focus on the maintenance and development of systems and supervising system modifications.
- Assign, monitor, and review progress and accuracy of work.
- Provide staff management oversight including hiring, promoting, or making recommendations for staff.
- Conduct performance reviews and assessments, manage performance, engage in skills assessment, and promote professional development of staff.
- Direct, motivate, and develop staff, maximizing their individual contribution, professional growth, and ability to function effectively with their colleagues as a team.
- Ensure adherence to policies, plans, objectives, budgets and staffing allocations.
- Manage and track team-level project details and serve as the technical subject matter expert and provide leadership during periods of transition.
- Participate in a weekly on-call rotation.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree in a Computer Sciences related field or equivalent work experience.
- 5 years - Experience with information technology concepts, application development and/or enterprise system maintenance methodology, terminology, and standards required.
- 5 years – Systems maintenance and/or programming experience required.
- 3 years - Expert working knowledge of at least one programming language and/or one enterprise system in use at BCBST.
- Knowledge of information technology concepts, methodology, terminology, and standards.
- Proven Skill to develop and/or maintain an enterprise IT system.
- Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in one or more enterprise IT systems.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Microsoft Office and email skills are required.
- Adaptive to high pace and changing environment.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical co-workers.
- Must be willing to adjust schedule to plan and perform maintenance and upgrades outside of business hours and be part of an on-call rotation.
