About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Organize the audit block into productive units or teams and direct team activities to meet department, corporate, and CMS expectations
  • Manage audit work to ensure appropriate production flow within required timeliness standards
  • Report results regularly to management
  • Respond to provider questions and resolve disputed audit items
  • Prepare staff instructions on Medicare regulations and company policies
  • Assist with QMS instructions and programs and continued ISO certification
  • Communicate with CMS and government or external law enforcement agencies
  • Evaluate staffing, interview and hire staff, complete performance evaluations, oversee promotions, and shift staff as needed
  • Review and inspect work products to ensure audit quality and compliance with department, company, and CMS requirements
  • Respond to audit inquiries and findings from external reviewers
  • Perform special projects and expand working knowledge and technical skills

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or another job-related field
  • 5 years of experience in operational/functional audits within the healthcare industry
  • 2 years of supervisory audit experience or equivalent military experience in grade E4 or above
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, interviewing, organizational, planning, leadership, and human relations skills
  • Ability to work professionally with persons at all levels and maintain effective working relationships
  • Clear and effective oral and written communication
  • Strong attention to detail and sound decision-making ability
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in applying accounting principles and auditing standards
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in healthcare operational and financial systems
  • Ability to understand complex systems, analyze details, and determine impact to the corporation
  • Understanding of management principles
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Preferred: Medicare Cost Report audit experience
