About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Oversee and approve, in coordination with Design Architects, the design of the business or technical solution
Ensure team members understand the business requirements that drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions
Responsible for solutions, spanning more than one platform and/or customer area
Lead the design of software solutions, utilizing appropriate software engineering processes in coordination with project teams
Develop artifacts such as concept diagrams, technical diagrams, and cost and budget calculations and coordinate/combine those created by System Designers
Present design solution options to Design Architects and upper management for sign off for projects spanning multiple platforms and/or customer areas
Lead design sessions with project teams, and resolves issues that arise between the teams
Recognize, identify, and communicate overlaps with projects and efforts
Stays abreast of all facets of each project, ensuring the health of each project throughout the project life cycle
Communicate design solutions to internal and external customers and project teams
Build and maintain the technical, business, and architectural knowledge
May mentor development and design staff

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's in a job-related field
Associate's degree plus an extra 2 years job-related experience for a total of 8 years of required work experience (see 'required work experience'). OR 10 total years required work experience
6 years experience within information technology, including demonstrated proficiency in the implementation of medium to large-sized systems
Thorough understanding of system analysis concepts, with an in-depth understanding of systems applications, interfaces, and architecture
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to relate tactical, strategic and architectural requirements to a wide variety of audiences
Working knowledge of development and production environments, applicable programming languages and system components
Flexibility to adapt to changing business, client and project needs
Ability to recommend innovative process solutions to business problems
Ability to quickly learn new and different methods and systems
Strong analytical, planning, organizational and project management skills
Understanding of requirements gathering concepts
Ability to work with diverse teams
Working knowledge of personal computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, VISIO, Power point, graphics, etc.
