About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead corporate distribution systems, general agents, brokers, and other market support personnel
  • Plan distribution, product development, marketing services, production, and profitability across assigned state territories
  • Solicit new distribution outlets for Companion Life products
  • Motivate general agents and brokers through visits and seminars
  • Formulate, advise on, and implement policies to improve production profitability and service standards
  • Develop marketing and sales themes, promotions, and sales materials
  • Monitor loss ratios and persistency and implement corrective actions
  • Develop and enhance new and existing group products
  • Recommend pricing, product design, filing, direct mail, and compliance requirements
  • Manage marketing, sales, renewal, and servicing of Companion Life products from a field office environment
  • Travel between buildings and travel up to 60%, including overnight

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, Marketing Management, or related field, OR four years of job-related work experience, OR a combination of education and work experience totaling four years
  • Six years of insurance sales and/or insurance marketing experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated skills related to sales, marketing, and/or underwriting
  • Thorough understanding of the agent/broker sales and marketing process
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and make sound decisions
  • Good judgment skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in spelling, punctuation, and grammar
  • Basic business math proficiency
  • Analytical or critical thinking skills
  • Ability to persuade, negotiate, or influence others
  • Ability to direct, motivate, and assess performance of others
  • Ability to handle confidential or sensitive information with discretion
  • Experience in the sales negotiation process
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Department of Insurance licensure must be obtained within 60 days of hire in the state employed
  • Up to 60% travel, including overnight
  • Preferred: experience working with high-value sales production targets estimated at $3 to $4 million or more
