About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead and/or assist the origination and negotiation of M&A opportunities
  • Build and review detailed financial models for solar and BESS acquisitions, including project-level and portfolio-level returns
  • Own due diligence workstreams on acquisition targets, reviewing interconnection agreements, PPAs/offtake structures, EPC contracts, permits, land rights, and title
  • Flag acquisition risks to leadership
  • Evaluate and help structure special-situation and off-market opportunities, including assets sourced through Chapter 11 and other court-supervised processes
  • Prepare and present investment memos, valuation summaries, and board-level materials for go/no-go decisions
  • Structure and analyze capital stacks involving tax equity, ITC transferability, project debt, and back-leverage facilities
  • Track and benchmark market comparables across ERCOT, NYISO, ISO-NE, SERC, and additional U.S. markets
  • Support negotiations by modeling deal scenarios, sensitivities, and purchase price adjustments
  • Liaise with counterparties on deal terms
  • Coordinate with Development, Finance, Accounting, Legal, and Asset Management teams, external counsel, lenders, tax equity investors, and advisors
  • Maintain and prioritize a pipeline of acquisition opportunities, counterparties, and deal status

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5–10 years of experience in renewable energy M&A from investment banking, private equity, infrastructure investing, IPPs, developers, or consulting
  • Advanced financial modeling skills and good command of Excel
  • Deep experience building and stress-testing project finance models from scratch
  • Solid working knowledge of PPAs, interconnection, tax equity, ITC/PTC, and project-level debt
  • Track record of independently owning diligence workstreams and synthesizing contracts, permits, and engineering reports into decision-ready recommendations
  • Direct experience in deal negotiations and interfacing with counterparties, lenders, and advisors
  • Ability to operate with ambiguity and competing deadlines in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience preparing and presenting investment committee or board-level materials
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Law degree is an advantage
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple live deals simultaneously and prioritize under pressure
