About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Define the engineering strategy and technical roadmap for the robotics stack for Blue River's autonomous construction program
  • Make build-vs-reuse-vs-buy decisions on critical subsystems and drive them to execution
  • Design safeguarding systems and safety architectures for heavy autonomous equipment
  • Work with mechatronics, platform, and field operations teams on system integration, bring-up, and field validation
  • Mentor and elevate engineers
  • Own architecture across localization, planning, controls, and safeguarding
  • Identify shared approaches across autonomy programs, improve code reuse, and increase company-wide engineering velocity
  • Shape foundational architecture decisions for autonomous construction systems

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Architected and shipped autonomous systems, making structural decisions on robotics or autonomous vehicle programs through production
  • Deep, broad technical judgment across the robotics technical stack
  • Track record of making technical decisions across team boundaries and building consensus
  • Ability to operate in ambiguity and drive ill-defined problems to results
  • Strong software skills, including production code and code review in compiled languages
  • Strong opinions about software architecture, testing, and code quality
  • 10+ years in robotics, autonomous vehicles, or related industries, or equivalent depth with fewer years and a graduate degree
  • Experience with off-highway, construction, or agriculture autonomy preferred
  • Familiarity with autonomous vehicle safety practices, including hazard analysis, safe behavior design, and runtime monitoring preferred
  • Experience building and scaling robotics teams and codebases from early-stage to production preferred
  • Open to visa sponsorship
