About the role

  • At Activision Blizzard: interns receive a meaningful project and tools/resources to learn; challenging, creative work directly impacts the team
  • Participate in a 12-week in-person summer internship contributing to cloud, DevOps, backend, and tooling projects
  • Support cloud-native applications and infrastructure; build tools and automation for AI-driven services; support migrations and optimize performance across distributed systems (Cloud Engineering)
  • Build and support custom tools, scripting, automation, and front-end interfaces to streamline game development workflows (DevOps)
  • Build backend systems and tools to support data-driven optimization, analyze performance, streamline pipelines, and improve developer tools (Backend Engineering)
  • Work with the Exceptions Team to learn the Software Lifecycle process and help create new backend systems impacting all Blizzard teams (Software Engineering, Data)
  • Collaborate across teams, use Agile and DevOps practices, and contribute to developer experience and infrastructure improvements
  • All internships conducted in-person; hosting managers determine when and how often interns work in the office; interns may opt into relocation services and receive a living stipend

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a certificate, associate’s, bachelor’s, or master’s degree program and graduating December 2026 – July 2027
  • Available to participate in a 12-week internship starting in late-May or mid-June
  • Currently residing in the US or open to relocating oneself to the US
  • Exhibits learning agility; has the ability to think differently, and/or grasp and apply new skills and concepts
  • Approaches problems in a clear, well-organized, and solutions-oriented manner
  • Works well with others and contributes to team tasks
  • Able to effectively communicate problems, solutions, needs, or priorities
  • Is engaged, seeks to learn, and is able to manage time effectively
  • A passion for significantly impacting game development

  • Cloud Engineering: Skilled in Python, Kubernetes, Docker, and Linux; Familiar with monitoring tools, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code; Exposure to GCP and Azure
  • DevOps: Skilled in Python, JavaScript, and Linux/Unix environments; Experience with GitHub, Perforce, and CI/CD pipelines; Familiar with front-end frameworks; Exposure to AWS or GCP
  • Backend Engineering: Experience with C++, Python, or C#; Familiarity with SQL, Spark, or Presto; Exposure to game engines (Unreal, Unity)
  • Software Engineering, Data: Experience with Python and JavaScript; Familiarity with C#; Experience with Linux based systems
