About the role

  • Create and implement animations that feel great to play, with timing and clarity that support combat readability and gameplay intent.
  • Bring characters and creatures to life while staying aligned with the style and vision of the Creative Director.
  • Play the game regularly to evaluate animations in context, refining to improve responsiveness and overall experience.
  • Partner across disciplines (design, engineering, art, audio, VFX) to identify and solve gameplay and technical challenges.
  • Seek feedback from the team, iterate quickly, and stay open to changes that push the work forward.
  • Collaborate with other members of the team providing feedback, assistance, and ideation whilst supporting the overall direction of the game.

Requirements

  • A strong animation reel focused on gameplay clarity and feel—for both players and enemies.
  • Experience creating high-quality gameplay animations on at least one 3rd person action title.
  • Expert understanding of animation fundamentals—posing, timing, and weight.
  • Proficiency with Unreal Engine (UE4/UE5) pipelines, including implementation and in-engine testing.
  • Proficiency in Maya for character and creature animation.
  • Familiarity with related disciplines (rigging, skinning, modeling) to collaborate effectively.
  • Deep passion for multiplayer action games and the player experience.
  • Excitement to join a small, fast-moving team where being proactive is key to success.
  • Bonus Background in martial arts, sports, or other physical disciplines that inform authentic and impactful combat animation.
