About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Comprehensively select and extract pertinent information from medical records
  • Document findings for review by the MD MMRT
  • Abstract cases within a specific time frame
  • Coordinate notifications with the MDH Maternal Mortality Review Coordinator
  • Attend monthly MD MMRT meetings and provide support during case reviews
  • Ensure all data is complete, unbiased, and in compliance with confidentiality laws (e.g., HIPAA)

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • At least five years of full-time or equivalent part-time professional experience in public health, health care or equivalent, with obstetrics experience
  • Experience in medical record review including an in-depth understanding of medical records organization
  • Flexibility and ability to accomplish tasks in short time frames
  • Strong attention to details
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality laws
  • Ability to serve as an objective, unbiased storyteller
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Skill with word processing and data entry (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to maintain organized, accurate records
