About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design and build core services behind the product, including APIs, data models, and integrations
Make architectural decisions that will shape the system for years
Own significant pieces of the product end-to-end, from design through production
Take ownership of on-call responsibilities and incident response
Partner with Product and Design to shape requirements and ensure the product holds up under real-world load
Set the technical standard for maintainable code through implementation, reviews, and mentorship
Drive architecture and technical decisions while the product foundations are being established
Mentor other engineers and improve practices around testing, instrumentation, and code quality

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of professional experience
Track record of owning systems in production, not just shipping features
Strong Rust, Go, Java, or Kotlin skills; production Rust strongly preferred
Proven experience designing REST APIs at scale, including contracts and versioning strategy
Deep experience with AWS or equivalent, containers, and CI/CD, including building or hardening these systems
Fluency with AI coding tools such as Claude Code and sound judgment when evaluating their output
Experience mentoring engineers and/or leading technical initiatives
Clear written and verbal English
Self-driven work style
BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Nice to have: payment rails such as SEPA, SWIFT, or ACH, or card issuing
Nice to have: regulated fintech knowledge including PSD2, KYC/AML, or PCI DSS
Nice to have: crypto custody, on-chain settlement, or stablecoin flows
Nice to have: monitoring and analytics tools such as Sentry or New Relic
Nice to have: experience setting technical direction or architecture for a product from its earliest stages
Nice to have: solid blockchain fundamentals, including ERC20, RPC nodes, and UTXO vs account models
