About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • The successful candidate will contribute to the design, construction, and operation of new or existing tailings/residue storage facilities (TSFs).
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team focused on tailings storage facility performance.
  • Conduct annual inspections and prepare reports (dam safety inspections, etc.).
  • Present technical content to stakeholders, including clients, regulatory authorities, and independent technical review committees.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise the technical work of junior, intermediate, and senior staff.
  • Help promote BGC’s vision, values, and culture among staff.
  • Travel as required, which may occasionally include extended shifts at remote work sites and visits to BGC offices across North America.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in mine tailings/residue management relevant to the responsibilities described above.
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or geological engineering.
  • Graduate degree in geological, geotechnical, or civil engineering is preferred.
  • Member in good standing with the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.
  • More than five years of relevant professional experience in tailings/residue management, dam design, or mining geotechnical engineering.
  • Experience across all phases of major tailings projects: investigation, design, construction, operation, and closure.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, project management, and communication skills.
  • A commitment to technical excellence.
  • Sufficient proficiency in English to communicate with English-speaking clients and colleagues.
