About the role
- Conduct geotechnical investigations, analyses, and design for transportation-related projects, including slope stabilization, earthworks, foundations, and earth retention systems
- Prepare technical reports and contribute to proposal development
- Complete field logs of boreholes in both soil and rock during subsurface investigations
- Perform field inspections and site visits during construction phases
- Interpret in situ and laboratory test results and instrumentation data
- Collaborate with senior engineers and project managers to ensure quality and technical excellence
- Support project delivery, including budgeting, scheduling, and coordination with internal teams and clients
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff as appropriate
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
- 5–8 years of relevant industry experience, or 3–6 years with a master’s degree
- Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the USA within 1 year of hire
- Experience with field investigation techniques such as soil visual-manual descriptions, rock core logging, SPT sampling, CPT soundings, test pits, and geophysical surveys
- Solid understanding of soil mechanics and geotechnical design principles, including limit equilibrium analysis, ASD and LRFD foundation analysis, and lateral earth pressure and earth retention
- Familiarity with geotechnical software such as SLOPE/W, Slide2, RSPile, LPile, PLAXIS, or similar
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
