About the role

  • Prepare and review state and local tax returns, including income/franchise, sales and use, and other multistate filings as applicable
  • Conduct research on complex state and local tax matters, including nexus, apportionment, and multistate compliance issues
  • Assist in identifying tax planning opportunities and recommending solutions to help clients manage their state and local tax obligations
  • Support the preparation of tax provisions related to state income taxes, as needed
  • Monitor and analyze changes in state and local tax regulations and assess their potential impact on clients
  • Work collaboratively with Partners, Directors, Managers, and other tax professionals to deliver high-quality client service
  • Assist in mentoring and reviewing the work of associates and interns, as appropriate
  • Maintain strong client relationships and communicate effectively regarding tax matters and project status

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of experience in public accounting with a focus on State and Local Tax (SALT)
  • Experience with multistate tax compliance preferred
  • Experience with corporate taxation and partnerships preferred
  • Exposure to tax provisions is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field required
  • Master’s degree in taxation or accounting preferred
  • Certifications CPA license or CPA candidate strongly preferred
  • Experience with standard tax compliance and research tools preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word
