About the role
- Provide project leadership, coordination, and oversight for transportation planning and design projects.
- Support the development and refinement of internal project management practices, tools, and templates to improve consistency and efficiency.
- Mentor Engineers, Designers, and Technicians by supporting professional development, task execution, and collaboration across teams.
- Manage transportation projects from planning through PS&E, including scope definition, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
- Oversee key elements of roadway and transportation design such as geometrics, roadway drainage, signing and striping, traffic handling and staging concepts, and construction cost estimates.
- Coordinate and direct the preparation of engineering reports, calculations, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Assign and balance workloads across project teams to maintain schedules and meet project milestones.
- Monitor project progress, budgets, and risks, proactively addressing issues to ensure successful delivery.
- Provide delegated responsible-charge support in coordination with senior technical staff.
- Serve as a primary or key point of contact for clients on assigned projects.
- Lead client and stakeholder meetings, progress updates, and coordination efforts with professionalism and clarity.
- Support issue resolution, schedule coordination, and scope management to maintain strong client satisfaction.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with local and county agencies, Caltrans, and private-sector partners.
- Lead proposal development, including technical narratives, scopes of work, schedules, and fee estimates.
- Identify opportunities for additional services within existing client accounts and support long-term client growth.
- Participate in industry events, conferences, and professional organizations to strengthen BENEN’s visibility and market presence.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- 10+ years of progressive experience in transportation and roadway design and project management
- 3+ years of related project management and/or team leadership experience and training
- Demonstrated experience managing transportation projects, including scope, schedule, and budget
- Proficiency with MicroStation (InRoads/OpenRoads) and/or Civil 3D
- Strong communication and organizational skills, including client coordination and presentation abilities.
