About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

support and lead the delivery of traffic engineering projects for public infrastructure and private development clients.
primary responsibility for producing high quality design documents, coordinating with senior staff, and mentoring junior team members.
manages and executes traffic engineering assignments under the direction of a Senior Traffic Engineer.
prepares technical reports, and helps manage project timelines and budgets.
contribute to the development and use of Traffic Division standards, templates, and design procedures.
support proposal efforts by providing project specific technical input.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
Registration as a Professional Engineer in Civil, Electrical, or Traffic Engineering in California is preferred.
Three or more years of experience preparing plans, specifications, and cost estimates for traffic signals, lighting, ramp metering, transportation electrical systems, signing, pavement delineation, and construction stage traffic handling.
Demonstrated ability to deliver assigned work under an agreed budget and schedule with limited supervision.
Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document technical work and collaborate within project teams.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and MicroStation for traffic design and plan production.
Working knowledge of Synchro and SimTraffic, VISUAL, and AutoTurn, or interest and aptitude to become proficient in these tools.
Ability to interpret and apply agency standards and guidelines related to traffic signals, lighting, signing, pavement delineation, and work zone traffic control.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, constructible plans, specifications, and estimates.
