About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Anticipate, analyse, and manage EU and EU Member State public policy developments that impact our steel processing and downstream manufacturing activities
- Monitor and analyse EU and EU Member State legislative and regulatory developments impacting steel processing and downstream manufacturing
- Translate regulatory developments into clear business implications
- Provide timely alerts, briefings and executive-level impact assessments to support senior management and Board decision-making
- Develop and implement EU governmental affairs and advocacy strategies aligned with company priorities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with EU institutions, Member State authorities, industry associations, business coalitions and relevant civil society stakeholders
- Represent the company in public consultations, hearings, policy roundtables and industry forums
- Support and prepare C-level engagement with policymakers
- Lead and coordinate EU positioning on trade defence instruments, market access issues and level-playing-field topics affecting steel and downstream products
- Monitor and assess EU industrial policy instruments, including manufacturing incentives, infrastructure and construction requirements, and local sourcing rules
- Work closely with sustainability and operations teams on EU climate, energy and environmental regulation affecting steel processing
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior management and business leaders on EU public policy matters.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Law, Economics, Engineering, International Relations, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in EU governmental affairs, regulatory strategy, trade or industrial policy, or related roles
- Preferably with experience working with or within the EU Institutions
- Strong understanding of EU institutions and Member States policy processes and regulatory institutions
- Experience with manufacturing, steel, metals, energy-intensive industries, or infrastructure related sectors strongly preferred
- Proven ability to engage credibly with EU public authorities and senior stakeholders
- Proven ability to connect policy outcomes to business strategy and investment decisions
- Strong analytical, writing, and executive communication skills
- Ability to operate effectively in a complex, matrixed, multinational environment
- Willingness to travel as required
- Fluent in English
- Knowledge of Dutch, French or German are considered a plus.
