About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Test all audio elements (sound effects, music, voice-over) to ensure correct playback, timing, triggering, layering, and looping throughout the product.
- Verify audio assets align with design requirements, identifying any missing, duplicated, incorrect, or improperly formatted files.
- Validate audio integration across gameplay, UI, cinematics, and Wwise systems, including triggers, switches, states, RTPCs, and spatial audio behavior.
- Assess audio quality and platform compatibility by checking loudness balance, mix consistency, distortion, clipping, and device-specific performance (headphones, speakers, surround sound).
- Document and manage audio defects in Jira, providing detailed reproduction steps, evidence, and appropriate priority/severity classifications.
- Collaborate with audio designers and developers to verify fixes, re-test resolved issues, execute full audio regression passes, and maintain test cases and checklists.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience with audio middleware such as Wwise or FMOD and DAWs such as Reaper or Pro Tools, with a strong understanding of audio fundamentals including EQ, compression, gain staging, and spatial audio.
- Proven ability to identify audio defects, artifacts, implementation issues, and deviations from creative direction with exceptional attention to detail.
- Experience creating and executing test cases, applying QA methodologies, and managing defects throughout the bug lifecycle using tools such as Jira.
- Familiarity with game development tools and workflows, including Unreal Engine, Confluence, and testing across PC and console platforms.
- Strong written communication, organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with audio, design, and engineering teams.
- Previous game audio QA or audio production experience is an asset, along with knowledge of interactive audio systems, localization QA, and accessibility standards.
