About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist in formulating group strategy and deal targeting
  • Help originate, maintain, and strengthen relationships with clients, potential clients, lenders, investors, and advisors
  • Participate in marketing efforts and prepare internal and external pitches and presentation materials
  • Coordinate with coverage, Project Finance lending, syndication, and Global Markets teams to identify opportunities and convert them into mandates
  • Structure and execute debt advisory transactions, including project finance, acquisition finance, and refinancing
  • Communicate with clients on assigned transaction aspects
  • Supervise financial modelling and related analyses, including optimisation, sensitivities, valuations, and model audit
  • Lead preparation of deal materials, including information memoranda and approval materials
  • Assist with financing and project documentation review and negotiations
  • Coordinate with external advisors to complete due diligence
  • Train and mentor associate, analyst, and intern team members
  • Foster cross-selling of CIB products with relevant CIB teams
  • Oversee and contribute to internal and external administrative tasks
  • Travel for internal and external meetings

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Master's degree
  • 6–8 years' experience in debt advisory, particularly project finance and acquisition finance, or a combined lending and advisory role and/or M&A advisory
  • Solid deals list, including financing structures with tax equity/tax credit
  • Strong financial modelling expertise in project finance, valuation, and capital stack including tax credits
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Fluency in English, oral and written
  • FINRA SIE, Series 79, and Series 63 licenses required
  • Interpersonal skills to work directly with clients and supervise and mentor junior internal resources
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Ability to multitask and work under time pressure
  • Ability to work with cross-functional and cross-geographic teams
  • Employment eligibility to work with BBVA in the U.S.; visa sponsorship is not available
