💰 $83,000 - $95,000 per year

About the role

  • Assist senior engineers with the evaluation, study, and design of water supply, pumping, treatment, and storage facilities
  • Perform field investigations, documenting findings and integrating them into engineering designs and reports
  • Prepare technical memoranda, engineering reports, planning studies, and design calculations
  • Develop detailed design documents, including plans, specifications, and cost estimates for water treatment and storage systems
  • Prepare project scopes, schedules, technical specifications, and contract documents for bidding and construction
  • Use standard QA/QC protocols in accordance with firm practices and project requirements
  • Communicate regularly with clients and internal project teams regarding project status, design decisions, and technical recommendations
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including Survey, CADD, Structural, Electrical, and Administrative groups to develop complete bid packages and reports
  • Attend client meetings to present project updates or support senior staff
  • Contribute to a positive team environment and may provide mentorship to less experienced engineers
  • Continue professional growth through active participation in water-focused or municipal engineering organizations

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required
  • 2+ years of experience in water, municipal, or infrastructure engineering
  • working knowledge of engineering design principles, plan preparation, and water infrastructure systems
  • strong technical writing and communication skills
  • ability to work independently under general supervision
  • ability to travel locally throughout Chicagoland and Southeastern Wisconsin
  • experience using engineering and design software (Civil 3D/Revit, ArcGIS, Blue Beam or other PDF editors) is preferred
