About the role
- Assist senior engineers with the evaluation, study, and design of water supply, pumping, treatment, and storage facilities
- Perform field investigations, documenting findings and integrating them into engineering designs and reports
- Prepare technical memoranda, engineering reports, planning studies, and design calculations
- Develop detailed design documents, including plans, specifications, and cost estimates for water treatment and storage systems
- Prepare project scopes, schedules, technical specifications, and contract documents for bidding and construction
- Communicate regularly with clients and internal project teams regarding project status, design decisions, and technical recommendations
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop complete bid packages and reports
- Attend client meetings, including occasional evening Board or Council meetings
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in water, municipal, or infrastructure engineering
- Working knowledge of engineering design principles, plan preparation, and water infrastructure systems
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
- Ability to work independently under general supervision
- Experience using engineering and design software (Civil 3D/Revit, ArcGIS, Blue Beam or other PDF editors)
- Ability to travel locally throughout Chicagoland and Southeastern Wisconsin
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
