About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Schedule diagnostic, surgical, therapy, physician office, and other patient appointments and procedures/treatments
- Obtain and verify demographic and insurance information
- Register patients and enter data into the scheduling system
- Work in a call center-type environment and meet individual quality metrics
- Provide professional, compassionate, and friendly service to patients, families, employees, physicians, and community members
- Practice the Baptist Health philosophy of service excellence
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school, certificate, GED, training, or experience
- Complete and pass the Patient Access training course
- Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced work environment
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
- Detail-oriented and organized
- Team player with compassionate customer service and interpersonal communication skills
- Basic knowledge of medical and insurance terminology desired
- Experience with computer applications such as Microsoft Office and EMR applications
- Accurate typing skills
- Knowledge of HIPAA, AHCA, EMTALA, and Medicare coverage structure, including medical necessity compliance guidelines
- Bilingual English and Spanish/Creole preferred
- Less than 1 year of minimum required experience
