About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Complete varied revenue-cycle, compliance, and patient-experience tasks in registration, financial screening, verification, and patient throughput
  • Meet individual collection goals
  • Verify patient insurance benefits using online portals and communication with insurance representatives
  • Explain deductibles, co-pays, and other insurance details to patients and collect financial responsibility
  • Confirm patient information and maintain accurate registrations under strict guidelines
  • Conduct virtual registrations, obtain consent, and collect payments through video conferencing
  • Communicate and partner with patients, clinical teams, leadership, and other departments
  • Maintain a seamless, positive experience for patients and caregivers
  • Present and thoroughly explain legal, ethical, and compliance-related documents at registration
  • Work as essential staff on weekends, holidays, and during disastrous events as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school, certificate, GED, training, or experience
  • Associate degree preferred
  • Complete and pass the Patient Access training course
  • Less than 1 year of minimum required experience
  • Experience in a fast-paced public health or revenue-cycle setting with payment collection experience, such as billing, sales, collections, or customer service
  • In lieu of degree and/or experience, ability to satisfactorily demonstrate or role-play required skills professionally
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Team player with compassion and excellent customer-service and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and maintain an agile mindset
  • Understanding of insurance contracts, collections, authorizations, and pre-certifications
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and EMR applications
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulatory guidelines such as HIPAA, AHCA, and EMTALA is desired
  • Bilingual English and Spanish/Creole is preferred
