About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Complete varied revenue-cycle, compliance, and patient-experience tasks in registration, financial screening, verification, and patient throughput
Meet individual collection goals
Verify patient insurance benefits using online portals and communication with insurance representatives
Explain deductibles, co-pays, and other insurance details to patients and collect financial responsibility
Confirm patient information and maintain accurate registrations under strict guidelines
Conduct virtual registrations, obtain consent, and collect payments through video conferencing
Communicate and partner with patients, clinical teams, leadership, and other departments
Maintain a seamless, positive experience for patients and caregivers
Present and thoroughly explain legal, ethical, and compliance-related documents at registration
Work as essential staff on weekends, holidays, and during disastrous events as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need

High school, certificate, GED, training, or experience
Associate degree preferred
Complete and pass the Patient Access training course
Less than 1 year of minimum required experience
Experience in a fast-paced public health or revenue-cycle setting with payment collection experience, such as billing, sales, collections, or customer service
In lieu of degree and/or experience, ability to satisfactorily demonstrate or role-play required skills professionally
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
Detail-oriented and organized
Team player with compassion and excellent customer-service and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to multitask and maintain an agile mindset
Understanding of insurance contracts, collections, authorizations, and pre-certifications
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and EMR applications
Knowledge of medical terminology
Knowledge of healthcare regulatory guidelines such as HIPAA, AHCA, and EMTALA is desired
Bilingual English and Spanish/Creole is preferred
