About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead construction compliance and risk engagements, including construction contract audits and controls assessments
  • Serve as the engagement manager and trusted advisor for client engagements
  • Apply Baker Tilly's construction audit methodology to evaluate construction projects throughout the project lifecycle
  • Perform and oversee detailed reviews of construction financial records, contracts, billings, and project documentation to assess compliance with contractual requirements, industry standards, and applicable regulations
  • Identify project risks, control gaps, and process improvement opportunities
  • Develop practical recommendations to mitigate risk and enhance project performance
  • Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously
  • Prepare and review high-quality workpapers, reports, and client deliverables
  • Collaborate with internal teams and client stakeholders to ensure efficient project execution and successful engagement outcomes
  • Lead proposal development, presentations, and business development activities to support practice growth
  • Mentor and develop consultants and senior consultants while fostering a collaborative, high-performing team culture.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 4-year degree
  • 5 years of professional experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred
  • Five (5) or more years of relevant professional experience in construction, internal audit, accounting, finance, project management, engineering, consulting, or a related discipline preferred
  • Professional certification such as CPA, CIA, CFE, PMP, CCA, CCP, CA, or another relevant credential preferred
  • 2+ years direct or indirect leadership experience preferred
  • Experience with construction contract auditing, project controls, construction risk, compliance, or internal audit preferred
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and client engagements in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Highly collaborative with the ability to work independently and across cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams
  • Strong client service mindset with a commitment to quality, continuous learning, and professional integrity
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word for data analysis, documentation, and reporting
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to client and project sites
  • Naturally curious, detail-oriented, and motivated to understand how processes work and identify opportunities for improvement.
