About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead strategic growth initiatives within Baker Tilly's Municipal Advisory and Public-Private Partnership (P3) advisory services.
- Develop and maintain executive-level relationships with public sector, higher education, transportation, aviation, and infrastructure clients.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to state and local governments, public agencies, colleges and universities, transportation authorities, airports, and other public-purpose organizations.
- Originate and lead complex advisory engagements involving infrastructure, economic development, campus development, real estate, capital planning, and public-private partnership initiatives.
- Advise clients on project evaluation, procurement strategies, alternative delivery methods, financial analysis, transaction structuring, implementation, and long-term asset management.
- Collaborate across Baker Tilly service lines to deliver integrated solutions that address clients' strategic, financial, operational, and infrastructure needs.
- Lead strategic pursuits, proposals, presentations, and client engagement efforts for complex advisory opportunities.
- Regularly assess market trends, funding programs, procurement practices, and emerging opportunities impacting public sector and higher education clients.
- Develop innovative service offerings and solutions aligned with evolving client needs and market demands.
- Provide thought leadership through industry organizations, conferences, publications, and speaking engagements.
- Participate as a subject matter expert in strategic initiatives and client engagements.
- Serve as Municipal Advisor on complex transactions as needed.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, public administration, business administration, urban planning, or a related field; Graduate degree preferred.
- FINRA Series 50 (Municipal Advisor Representative) license required, or ability to obtain within a specified period following hire.
- 10+ years of experience in the public sector or professional services provided to the public sector and/or higher education sector (e.g., accounting, law, management consulting, municipal advising, infrastructure advisory, etc.).
- Advanced knowledge and skills in the principles and practice of public administration, economic development, community development, redevelopment, infrastructure planning, public finance, capital project delivery, or related advisory disciplines.
- Experience advising public sector and/or higher education clients on infrastructure, economic development, capital planning, public-private partnerships (P3), procurement, real estate, or complex transactions preferred.
- Demonstrated success developing executive-level relationships and originating new business opportunities within public sector, higher education, transportation, aviation, infrastructure, or economic development markets.
- Public presentation and facilitation skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work under a defined and planned directive with minimal direct day-to-day supervision for implementation.
- Motivation to work extended hours as needed which can include night meetings.
- Mentoring skills; ability to lead and direct overall workflow.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing complex advisory engagements.
- Innovative marketing ideas – will work closely with Firm marketing to generate campaigns that support areas of public sector growth.
- Knowledge of alternative project delivery methods, municipal finance, infrastructure procurement, and public-private partnership structures is preferred.
- Ability to travel up to 25-40% as needed.
