About the role

  • Be a trusted advisor to middle market and Fortune 500 clients by providing strategic consulting services that lower their compliance costs, ensure they are reporting correctly and provide value across the spectrum of federal, tribal and state royalties and production taxes.
  • Research state severance tax issues including valuation, reporting requirements, post-production cost deduction, and applicable incentives.
  • Provide guidance to clients on various compliance matters including state, federal, and tribal sovereign royalties.
  • Review client product valuation and reporting practices to ensure compliant reporting and identify opportunities for improvement and efficiency.
  • Assist in preparing client monthly, quarterly, and annual compliance returns.
  • Assist in providing client support related to state, federal, or tribal audit items.
  • Assist in providing client support in other areas of upstream oil and gas taxation.
  • Prepare memoranda on federal, tribal, and state compliance issues for individuals, corporations, partnerships and LLCs.
  • Identify, communicate, and implement process improvements in firm or customer compliance functions.
  • Maintain active communication with management team to enable them to manage client expectations and ensure their satisfaction.
  • Learn and grow from direct on the job coaching and mentoring along with participating in firm wide learning and development programs.
  • Utilize your entrepreneurial skills to network and build strong relationships internally and externally with clients and other industry professionals.

Requirements

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without future sponsorship
  • Recent Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or related math degree
  • One to 2 years of experience in public accounting or 2 years of experience in industry working with ONRR reporting and/or severance taxes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office tools
  • Must be highly organized and capable of managing multiple tasks in a complex, dynamic environment
  • Work within tight deadlines and take responsibility for getting the job done in a timely manner
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments and manage time
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team of professionals
  • Display professional and competent demeanor.
