About the role
- Assist both Fortune 500 and middle market clients across industries with their state unclaimed property reporting requirements and related consulting needs.
- Apply accounting, technology, written and oral communication skills to deliver advisory and compliance services to clients.
- Deliver various advisory services, including organization and management of client data and documents.
- Conduct detailed reviews of client records (e.g., accounting documents, procedures, etc.) to identify areas of potential unclaimed property noncompliance.
- Perform interviews of client accounting and operational personnel.
- Identify client’s potential unclaimed property exposure, developing strategic plans to limit exposure and presenting suggestions to reduce it.
- Create models to calculate potential exposure.
- Assist with the management of clients’ state unclaimed property audits and voluntary disclosure agreements.
- Support for drafting technical written memorandums.
- Interact with clients, outside legal counsel, and state unclaimed property representatives.
- Prepare and file annual unclaimed property reports to multiple jurisdictions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master's degree in accounting or law, or a related degree in business
- Outstanding academic performance required, with a preferred GPA of 3.0 or above
- Relevant internship, work experience and/or involvement with a professional organization
- The ability to work effectively in a team environment with all levels of client personnel
- Demonstrated skills in the areas of time management, communication, interpersonal skills, relationship building, collaboration, and problem solving
- Organizational and analytical skills, initiative, adaptability
- Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
