About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assisting in preparing client bookkeeping and accounting records, payroll, financial statements, tax remittances, etc.
  • Reconciliation of accounts receivable and accounts payable
  • Preparing various types of tax filings, HST, and other compliance returns
  • Communicating accounting concepts to clients and answering their questions
  • CRA correspondence, requests, and audits – ensuring work is easy to audit
  • Preparing adjusting journal entries, working papers, assisting with T2 returns, and compilation engagement financial statements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Completion of a diploma/certificate in Business Administration or Accounting
  • 1-3 years of Accounting and Bookkeeping experience required
  • Experience working in a professional services environment is an asset
  • Keen attention to detail, time management, and organization are essential
  • Strong trusting relationship building skills are important, including written and verbal communications skills as well as a collaborative client service approach
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Online (QBO), QuickBooks Desktop, Sage 50, Xero, and Microsoft Office Suite software and aptitude to learn new cloud accounting apps and integrations are valuable
  • Professional judgment and confidentiality are imperative
  • Candidates must possess a basic knowledge of Canadian sales tax rules and compliance, including GST/HST regulations, provincial sales tax requirements, and the ability to navigate complex tax scenarios to ensure accurate and timely reporting
  • Proficiency with Caseware and Taxprep is an asset.
