About the role
- Define software architectures and designs for customer solutions
- Identify new ways of solving problems and select appropriate technologies
- Work in small empowered teams with ownership of deliverables
- Collaborate with Law Enforcement customers to build systems supporting core mission capabilities
- Design, develop, deploy and maintain applications and services across cloud and on-premise environments
- Play a role across the full delivery lifecycle and adopt new technologies and approaches
- Collaborate with tech leads and other architects to join-up solutions
- Communicate with stakeholders, customers and end users
- Champion quality assurance and best practices and mentor engineers
Requirements
- Experience defining software architectures and designs
- Familiarity with security concepts, including secure design and implementation
- Responsibility for technical output of a team
- Collaboration with tech leads and other architects
- Clear verbal and written communication skills
- Stakeholder management, including customers and end users
- Championing quality assurance and best practices
- Practical software development experience in full technical stack (e.g. React, TypeScript, JavaScript, Java, C#, messaging, Elastic, MongoDB, PostgreSQL)
- Following an agile development methodology
- Driving innovation within a team of engineers
- Willingness to work from a secure site (office) location and typically 2-3 days a week on site (may be 4-5 days depending on role)
- Must achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard; SC clearance required and potentially customer-specific clearance
- Many roles require 5 to 10 years continuous UK residency depending on vetting level
- (Desirable) Cloud technology training and certification such as AWS or Azure
- (Desirable) Experience in full-stack technical design
- (Desirable) Mentoring junior engineers
