About the role

  • Lead the design and delivery of complex technical and architectural solutions within Central Government clients
  • Take ownership of architectural workstreams and guide multidisciplinary teams
  • Engage with senior stakeholders to shape technology strategy and delivery
  • Lead development of enterprise and solution architectures aligned to business goals and government standards
  • Define and maintain architecture principles, patterns, and roadmaps across programmes
  • Translate strategic objectives into actionable technical designs and delivery plans
  • Provide expert guidance across cloud platforms, software engineering, data architecture, and cybersecurity
  • Collaborate with delivery teams to ensure alignment between architecture and implementation
  • Support pre-sales activities, including technical input into bids and proposals
  • Mentor junior consultants and contribute to internal capability development
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, training, and participating in professional societies

Requirements

  • Proven experience delivering enterprise or solution architecture in complex software programmes
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including within government sectors
  • Familiarity with UK Government digital standards and delivery frameworks
  • Expertise in one or more of: Enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF, MODAF, Zachman)
  • Expertise in one or more of: Cloud architecture (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Software development and integration
  • Data architecture and governance
  • Cybersecurity and risk management
  • DevOps and CI/CD pipelines
  • Desirable certifications: TOGAF, BCS EA or equivalent; Cloud certifications (e.g. AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Architect Expert)
