About the role
- Lead the design and delivery of complex technical and architectural solutions within Central Government clients
- Take ownership of architectural workstreams and guide multidisciplinary teams
- Engage with senior stakeholders to shape technology strategy and delivery
- Lead development of enterprise and solution architectures aligned to business goals and government standards
- Define and maintain architecture principles, patterns, and roadmaps across programmes
- Translate strategic objectives into actionable technical designs and delivery plans
- Provide expert guidance across cloud platforms, software engineering, data architecture, and cybersecurity
- Collaborate with delivery teams to ensure alignment between architecture and implementation
- Support pre-sales activities, including technical input into bids and proposals
- Mentor junior consultants and contribute to internal capability development
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, training, and participating in professional societies
Requirements
- Proven experience delivering enterprise or solution architecture in complex software programmes
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including within government sectors
- Familiarity with UK Government digital standards and delivery frameworks
- Expertise in one or more of: Enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF, MODAF, Zachman)
- Expertise in one or more of: Cloud architecture (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Software development and integration
- Data architecture and governance
- Cybersecurity and risk management
- DevOps and CI/CD pipelines
- Desirable certifications: TOGAF, BCS EA or equivalent; Cloud certifications (e.g. AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Architect Expert)
