About the role
- Provide professional safety and environmental engineering support to naval ship projects.
- Work as part of a team to provide safety and environmental engineering support across design, build, launch, and trials.
- Provide input on non-conformances and design changes to influence safety outcomes.
- Develop and maintain hazard logs and attend hazard identification and review meetings.
- Author technical documentation such as Ship System Safety & Environmental Case Reports.
- Support colleagues in developing safety and environmental assessments or cases.
Requirements
- Engineering background with experience in safety and environmental assessment/management processes.
- Experience using Claims/Arguments/Evidence techniques for safety and environmental arguments.
- Awareness or experience of techniques such as SWIFT, HazOpS, and FME(C)A.
- Ideally degree-qualified in an engineering discipline (extensive relevant experience considered).
- Preferably hold Defence Maritime Regulator’s SEMT or SSMO certification (training can be arranged).
- Membership of a relevant institution (e.g., IExpE, IMechE, RINA, IET, SARS) and Chartered or Incorporated status (or working towards).
- The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
