About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and write curriculum content for children, including leader-facing teaching resources and family-oriented materials that support engagement beyond the classroom or club setting.
- Contribute to new product development, as well as ongoing curriculum updates, maintenance, and evaluation.
- Ensure that all content is on-brand, aligned with Awana’s Statement of Faith, and consistent in terms of style, quality, tone of voice, and optimized for the Awana audience.
- Collaborate with internal teams to support the development, refinement, and execution of curriculum and product initiatives.
- Coordinate freelancers and production partners, providing key details, timelines, and information needed to complete their assignments.
- Facilitate and lead check-in meetings with freelancers and production partners as needed.
- Ensure that work delivered by freelancers and production partners meets Awana’s required specifications.
- Actively collaborate in the ideation, development, improvement, and promotion of curriculum.
- Contribute to a culture of integrated workflow and information sharing.
- Partner cross-functionally to support content integration across print, digital, and ministry experiences.
- Support, uphold, and demonstrate Awana’s cultural values in internal and external communications and relationships.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of 5 years of experience in children’s ministry or curriculum development.
- Strong understanding of child development principles and how they apply to faith formation and discipleship.
- Experience developing or writing curriculum content for children, including leader-facing teaching resources and family-oriented materials that support engagement beyond the classroom or club setting.
- Intermediate proficiency in Google Workspace required; familiarity with Adobe InDesign is a plus.
- Working knowledge of the Bible from an orthodox evangelical point of view required.
- Familiarity with the US Evangelical Church landscape, specifically children’s ministry and relevant children’s culture.
- Familiarity with Awana Clubs, curriculum, and ministry approach is strongly preferred, with preference given to candidates who have actively served in a leadership or volunteer role within an Awana Club setting.
- Eligibility to work in the United States is required; this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
- Availability and willingness to travel occasionally, including local and overnight trips.
- Must be a born-again Christian.
- Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
- Must be in agreement with the Awana Doctrinal Statement.
- Must be in fellowship with the body of Christ through a local church.
- Regularly reads the Holy Bible as a guide and standard for living.
