About the role
- Liaison (Sustainment) Engineer supporting line maintenance and heavy maintenance depot operations at US Air Force bases
- Provide technical dispositions and guidance for aircraft issues that exceed published limits for structural damage (sheet metal and composite repairs)
- Perform structural analysis to substantiate repairs
- Provide work deviation authorization and interpretation of service documents & Technical Orders
- Provide options for repairing versus replacing parts to minimize financial impact
- Provide aircraft system troubleshooting assistance
- Attend regular production meetings to ensure timely support
- Provide on-site engineering assistance for significantly damaged aircraft as required
- Coordinate events/issues with USAF Program Office for troubleshooting and follow-up
- Monitor trends and recurring discrepancies requiring corrective action
- Develop Typical Repairs and manual supplements to eliminate repetitive Engineering Technical Assistance Requests (ETARs)
- Author policies and processes to ensure general compliance with FAA regulations
- Travel to USAF bases monthly (minimum) for 3-4 days
Requirements
- BS Degree (or higher) in Aeronautical, Aerospace, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering
- Two plus (2+) years in specific technical discipline
- Ability to perform structural analysis to substantiate repairs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong investigative, analytical, and problem solving skills
- Self-motivated, conscientious and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
- Knowledge of FARs, FAA policies, and vendor manual (AMM, IPC, CMM)
- Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule to meet internal customer's needs
- Aircraft/airline/MRO aviation engineering experience desired
- Ability to pass a Tier 1(minimum) Investigation for work on Department of Defense contracts
- Existing security clearance preferred
- Must be a US citizen or permanent resident
- Willingness/ability to travel to USAF bases monthly for 3-4 days
