About the role

  • Liaison (Sustainment) Engineer supporting line maintenance and heavy maintenance depot operations at US Air Force bases
  • Provide technical dispositions and guidance for aircraft issues that exceed published limits for structural damage (sheet metal and composite repairs)
  • Perform structural analysis to substantiate repairs
  • Provide work deviation authorization and interpretation of service documents & Technical Orders
  • Provide options for repairing versus replacing parts to minimize financial impact
  • Provide aircraft system troubleshooting assistance
  • Attend regular production meetings to ensure timely support
  • Provide on-site engineering assistance for significantly damaged aircraft as required
  • Coordinate events/issues with USAF Program Office for troubleshooting and follow-up
  • Monitor trends and recurring discrepancies requiring corrective action
  • Develop Typical Repairs and manual supplements to eliminate repetitive Engineering Technical Assistance Requests (ETARs)
  • Author policies and processes to ensure general compliance with FAA regulations
  • Travel to USAF bases monthly (minimum) for 3-4 days

Requirements

  • BS Degree (or higher) in Aeronautical, Aerospace, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering
  • Two plus (2+) years in specific technical discipline
  • Ability to perform structural analysis to substantiate repairs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong investigative, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Self-motivated, conscientious and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Knowledge of FARs, FAA policies, and vendor manual (AMM, IPC, CMM)
  • Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule to meet internal customer's needs
  • Aircraft/airline/MRO aviation engineering experience desired
  • Ability to pass a Tier 1(minimum) Investigation for work on Department of Defense contracts
  • Existing security clearance preferred
  • Must be a US citizen or permanent resident
  • Willingness/ability to travel to USAF bases monthly for 3-4 days
