Liaison (Sustainment) Engineer supporting line maintenance and heavy maintenance depot operations at US Air Force bases
Provide technical dispositions and guidance for aircraft issues that exceed published limits for structural damage including sheet metal and composite repairs
Perform structural analysis as required to substantiate repairs
Provide work deviation authorization, interpretation of service documents & Technical Orders
Provide options for repairing versus replacing parts to minimize financial impact
Provide aircraft system troubleshooting assistance
Attend regular production meetings to ensure timely support
Provide on-site engineering assistance for significantly damaged aircraft as required
Coordinate events/issues with USAF Program Office for additional action, troubleshooting and follow-up
Monitor trends and recurring discrepancies requiring corrective action
Develop Typical Repairs and manual supplements to eliminate repetitive Engineering Technical Assistance Requests (ETARs)
Author policies and processes to ensure general compliance with FAA regulations
Travel to USAF bases required once per month (minimum) for 3-4 days at a time; all travel paid
Requirements
BS Degree (or higher) in Aeronautical, Aerospace, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering
Two plus (2+) years in specific technical discipline
Ability to perform structural analysis to substantiate repairs
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong investigative, analytical, and problem solving skills
Self-motivated, conscientious and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
Knowledge of FARs, FAA policies, and vendor manual (AMM, IPC, CMM)
Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule to meet internal customer's needs
Ability to pass a Tier 1(minimum) Investigation for work on Department of Defense contracts
