About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Underwriting bond risks within assigned parameters and authority
Drafting underwriting approval requests to reinsurers
Assisting agents and customers with various bond-related questions and regulations
Handling and/or assisting with bond insufficiency notifications
Managing bond supplies and requests
Handling and/or assisting with letters of credit and other collateral maintenance tasks
Preparing various management reports to manage surety program utilizing various software tools including Word, Excel, Access, etc. and our proprietary Merlin software
Work on special projects for reinsurance, collateral reviews, audits, etc.

Requirements

What you’ll need

at least 3 years of direct customs bond underwriting or related surety experience
current binding authority
strong verbal and written communication skills
excellent attention to detail
ability to stay highly organized while consistently meeting deadlines
