About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Inspect and test retail fuel dispensing devices and fuel storage tanks
- Conduct regulatory field inspections at retail fueling locations
- Register retail locations and verify advertised products, pumps, and methods of sale
- Verify correct fuel-product pricing on road signage, placards, and pumps
- Check antifreeze brands to ensure state fuel laboratory registration
- Verify fuel dispenser accuracy by volume and monetary indicators
- Collect, transport, and submit fuel samples and prescribed reports to the State Fuel Lab
- Respond to complaints and requests in a timely and efficient manner
- Inspect underground and above-ground storage tanks for identification, water, contaminants, and cap seals
- Attend required meetings and training seminars
- Maintain the State vehicle and associated equipment
- Provide consistent, high-quality, customer-focused service to the public
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma/GED and one year of experience in the area of assignment, or two years of college including 12 semester hours or 20 quarter hours in chemistry or life sciences
- Valid Georgia driver’s license
- Clean driving record
- Communication and customer service skills
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- General knowledge of Windows operating system and basic computer skills
- Basic mathematical skills
- Must reside or be willing to relocate within a reasonable distance of the assigned territory
- Ability to stand for long periods and walk, squat, kneel, or drive intermittently
- Ability to lift and carry up to 60 lbs. for short periods
- Satisfactory employment verification, background and criminal records investigations, and motor vehicle reports
