About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Coordinate and perform inspections for compliance with policies, procedures, state and federal regulations, and standards
  • Conduct site visits and inspections of watershed dams across Georgia
  • Attend and present at public Soil and Water Conservation District Meetings
  • Maintain written and verbal communication with district representatives regarding dams in their areas
  • Complete inspections and generate reports for watershed dams
  • Assist with organizing and recording watershed dam documents
  • Assist Project Managers with oversight of construction and maintenance projects
  • Maintain effective communication within the agency and with property owners
  • Maintain invoices and contract information
  • Work with other state agencies to achieve Watershed Dam Program goals and requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma/GED and two years of job-related experience; or one year of experience at the lower-level Safety & Compliance Specialist 1 or equivalent position
  • Must have or obtain a valid Georgia driver’s license
  • Working knowledge of Windows Office Suites preferred
  • Experience with Esri’s ArcGIS Suite preferred
  • Experience with Google Earth preferred
  • Experience with GIS software preferred
  • Drone pilot certification preferred
  • Ability to perform intermittent walking, driving, and squatting
  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Ability to climb earthen embankments
  • Ability to tolerate water exposure and outdoor elements for extended periods
  • Ability to work long travel days with limited overnight travel
  • Satisfactory employment verification, background and criminal records investigations, and motor vehicle reports required as a condition of hiring
