About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct interviews with job, program, or unemployment applicants to obtain information needed to provide services
  • Demonstrate the use of job listings to assist clients with skill building
  • Develop, conduct, and/or coordinate workshops and presentations on job readiness and current job search techniques
  • Establish and maintain professional working relationships with local employers to develop client opportunities
  • Evaluate application information and determine initial or ongoing program eligibility
  • Counsel applicants to identify abilities, needs, interests, and values in relation to job and career opportunities
  • Provide career development and assessment services to match applicants’ skill sets to vacancies
  • Refer applicants to counseling, literacy or language instruction, transportation assistance, and childcare services
  • Receive additional training as required to gain proficiency and experience in all areas
  • Perform assigned duties between multiple locations, including minimal travel and outstation work within the local workforce development area

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or GED and two years of related experience, or Associate’s degree
  • Knowledge of the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA) and related Wagner-Peyser Act preferred
  • Experience delivering Employment Services preferred
  • Experience delivering group presentations preferred
  • Bilingual/Spanish-speaking preferred
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations preferred
  • Time and task management skills
  • Basic computer skills and ability to adapt to job-related software programs
  • Organizational skills
  • Project management skills
  • Superior oral and written communication skills
  • Interpersonal relations and customer service skills
  • Decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work physically within an assigned career center during core business hours
