About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Drive architecture across embedded devices, cloud services, and the web for a new generation of installed AV products
Partner with engineering and product leads on cross-cutting technical decisions, including platform direction, build-versus-buy, and architectural trade-offs
Translate product goals into buildable systems and surface technical constraints that shape the roadmap
Identify and reduce technical risk that no single team owns
Improve test strategy, automation, development processes, and multi-team platform shippability
Champion AI-assisted engineering by identifying high-leverage workflows, proving them out, and spreading them across teams
Report to the engineering-group leader spanning several teams and more than 20 engineers

Requirements

What you’ll need

Deep experience designing and shipping connected systems where devices and cloud services work together reliably
Strong distributed-systems fundamentals, including networking, protocol design, reliability, and observability
Experience with protocols, APIs, and third-party system integration
Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development, including guardrails, workflows, or tooling
Strong hands-on coding ability across languages and stack layers
Experience with TypeScript/Node.js, GraphQL, MongoDB, Redis, AWS, and Kubernetes
Ability to influence architecture and engineering culture without formal authority
Ability to clarify complex issues through effective questioning
Comfort turning ambiguous mandates into concrete plans
Professional AV or audio networking background is a plus, not a requirement
