About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assess incoming students to identify reading, writing, and literacy skill levels and areas for growth
- Develop and deliver engaging, individualized lessons tailored to adult learners and their academic needs
- Teach foundational literacy skills, including vocabulary, sentence structure, reading comprehension, fluency, and critical reading
- Provide individual and small-group support to students requiring additional assistance
- Integrate digital literacy and appropriate technology tools into instruction
- Monitor and document student progress, provide meaningful feedback, and adjust instruction based on demonstrated needs
- Collaborate with faculty and academic support teams to help students achieve their educational and career goals
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master's degree in Reading, Literacy, Education, or a closely related field required
- Experience teaching reading or literacy to adult learners, college students, or students requiring additional academic support
- Knowledge of literacy assessment, differentiated instruction, and individualized lesson planning
- Ability to evaluate student progress and modify instructional strategies based on individual needs
- Strong classroom facilitation, communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Patient, supportive, and student-focused approach with a commitment to helping learners achieve measurable progress
