About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Write a doctoral dissertation in the field of Agentic Enterprise Systems, focusing on Conversational Banking
  • Collaborate with and receive supervision from Prof. Dr. Alexander Mädche at KIT’s Human-Centered Systems Lab
  • Develop innovative Conversational Banking prototypes using Agentic AI and Knowledge Graphs on Databricks
  • Scientifically evaluate the prototypes and transfer successful concepts into production
  • Design solutions for potential future integration into the Data Intelligence Platform and omnichannel platform
  • Work closely with the Corporate AI Office, the omnichannel platform team, researchers at KIT, and the Cooperative Financial Group
  • Develop innovative Conversational Banking solutions using novel design methodologies
  • Actively transfer knowledge from research into practice
  • Present research findings at national and international conferences
  • Publish in renowned academic journals
  • Contribute to an agile, interdisciplinary team developing data-driven AI solutions for banking

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • An outstanding master’s degree in computer science, business informatics, industrial engineering, or a comparable field
  • Strong knowledge of Python and SQL
  • Initial experience developing business intelligence applications, such as dashboards or Conversational BI
  • Knowledge of Databricks, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Notebooks, and MLflow, or willingness to learn
  • Initial exposure to Conversational UIs, design methodologies, LLMs, Agentic AI architectures, or Knowledge Graph/Semantic Layer concepts
  • Business-fluent German skills at least at C1 level
  • Good to very good English skills at least at B2 level
  • Willingness to work on-site regularly in Karlsruhe, expected to spend two days at KIT and two days at Atruvia
  • Willingness to work independently and collaboratively in an agile and academic environment
  • Complete application documents, including a CV and relevant employment references
