About the role
- Define and maintain the architectural blueprint for the NG911 call-handling platform
- Guide design decisions related to system scalability, fault tolerance, real-time communications, geospatial routing, and cybersecurity
- Evaluate and implement emerging technologies to advance platform capabilities
- Lead long-term technical planning and establish architectural roadmaps
- Collaborate with product and program leadership to assess feasibility, cost, and architectural implications of new features or integrations
- Work closely with engineering teams to ensure architectural designs are implemented effectively
- Coordinate with public safety agencies, telecom providers, and government partners
- Establish and enforce software architecture best practices, design patterns, and coding standards
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in software architecture or engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
- Proven experience with large-scale, real-time, mission-critical systems—preferably in public safety, telecom, or defense sectors
- Strong understanding of NG911 standards (e.g., NENA i3), SIP/RTP protocols, CAD systems, and geospatial data systems (GIS)
- Expertise in distributed systems, microservices architecture, and secure cloud deployments (AWS, Azure, or hybrid)
