About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist with implementing each student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
- Write IEPs and lesson plans aligned with student goals
- Participate in the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)
- Teach all assigned subjects through 1:1, small-group, and whole-class sessions
- Administer transition, standardized, benchmark, and evaluation assessments
- Schedule and participate in IEP and disability-related meetings
- Maintain compliant student records, files, grade books, progress reports, lesson plans, attendance records, and behavior records
- Complete required paperwork and progress reports within timelines
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, psychologists, administrators, related services, and outside professionals
- Support teachers with disability-related resources and co-teaching
- Maintain confidentiality of student and professional information
- Attend assigned professional development
- Travel and attend face-to-face events several times per year for state testing and student events
Requirements
What you’ll need- Current state certification/licensure in the appropriate area
- Master’s degree preferred
- Three years of teaching experience, including at least two years in special education, preferred
- Strong content knowledge in one or more content areas
- Familiarity with state proficiency testing and state teaching standards
- Understanding of, or willingness to learn, the MTSS process
- Prior experience working with a diverse student body
- Proficiency with Google Docs, MS Office Suite, email, and internet applications
- Experience with software and databases supporting IDEA compliance, including PowerSchool Special Programs
- Ability to learn new technologies and acquire new skills
- Ability to gather, analyze, and interpret student data
- Ability to handle confidential information responsibly
- Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings
- Valid driver’s license and ability to perform occasional local and in-state travel
- Ability to pass federal, state, and local background checks
- Knowledge of co-teaching models and ability to co-teach
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Genuine care for children and passion for teaching
