Principal EC&I Engineer
AssystemPrincipal EC&I Engineer playing a key role in delivering complex projects for Assystem. Leading engineering delivery in Electrical, Control & Instrumentation disciplines while ensuring safety and compliance standards.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead EC&I engineering delivery for complex systems and projects
- Act as Lead Engineer on large-scale projects and support project planning
- Ensure compliance with standards such as BS7671, IEC 61508, CDM Regulations & Machinery Directive
- Support project cost, schedule, and quality delivery
- Contribute to tenders, including technical and risk assessments
- Lead, mentor, and supervise engineering teams
- Set objectives, monitor performance, and provide constructive feedback
- Act as the technical interface between clients and internal teams
- Drive process improvements and efficiency initiatives
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry best practices
Requirements
What you’ll need- Degree in Electrical, Control, or Instrumentation Engineering (or HNC/HND with significant experience)
- Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
- Membership with the IET (or working toward Chartered status)
- 10+ years in EC&I engineering within regulated industries
- Strong expertise across EC&I disciplines, with specialism in at least two areas
- Experience across full project lifecycle phases
- Knowledge of control systems design (V-cycle, verification & validation)
- Experience with configuration and documentation management
- Proven collaboration with project management teams
